Hoglund

Class of 1978

Terrence Lee "Terry," "Hogie" Hoglund (1956-1992)

Terrence Lee Hoglund, also know as Terry or Hogie, was born in Reston, Virginia on October 18, 1956. He grew up in Oakton Virginia before going to the University of Virginia where he graduated from the Commerce School in 1978. He joined the Beta Upsilon Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity on September 3, 1975 (BU #252). Pete Jones (’78) wrote the following about Terry. As I think of Terry, loyalty comes to mind. Out of all of my pledge brothers, I think that Terry was the one who would have stood behind me, no matter what. In fact, I can remember occasions when Terry and I would be standing out on the front porch of the house, late at night, beer in hand, talking about some issue that was concerning us at that time. No matter how much he had had to drink, Terry was able to rationally discuss the issue, and discuss an appropriate solution. I remember visiting Terry in the UVA hospital during our fourth year of college. I don't think that I ever fully understood what his illness was. But Terry was so positive, and his humor deflected any concerns that his visitors had about him. Over the years, I have thought about Terry often. --Composite biography prepared by Russell H.
