Arvind Kumar

Arvind Kumar has worked as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) on a DST-project involving the use of nanoparticle-laden fluids for harnessing solar energy, under the supervision of Dr. Himanshu Tyagi at IIT Ropar during 2015-16. As part of this work, he performed experiments to obtain the temperature enhancement of different types of nanofluids using direct sunlight. He has completed Integrated Dual Degree B.Tech+M.Tech from Gautam Buddha Univerisity, Greater Noida. Currently, he is pursuing PhD in multi-phase flow and heat transfer laboratory on flow boiling at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur.

Jay Doshi

Jay Bhavesh Doshi accomplished his summer internship 2018 at IIT Ropar and worked on increasing the absorptivity of nanoparticle-laden fluids through experimental and simulation analysis, and contributed towards research which was published in the journal Renewable Energy (Link). He had completed his third year of B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering at School of Engineering and Applied Science, Ahmedabad University at that time. His research interest areas include nano-materials, solar energy, phase change materials, and mathematical modeling. Afterwards he pursued masters of science degree in Renewable Energy Engineering and Management from the University of Freiburg, Germany. Currently he is working in the field of offshore wind in RWE Renewables, at Hamburg, Germany.

Manpreet Singh

Manpreet pursued his internship at IIT Ropar (Oct to Nov 2012) and worked to propose a cheaper and efficient model of Hybrid Power System under the co-supervision of Dr. K. Vijayaraghavan (SFU), and Dr H. Tyagi (IIT Ropar), as a part of SFU’s BC-India mobility initiative. His interests lie in improving the old methodologies in the field of renewable energy resources. At that time Manpreet was a third year student pursuing electronics engineering from Simon Fraser University, Canada.

Mettu Sagar

Sagar received B.Tech degree from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, Punjab (2014-18). He later worked as JRF at IIT Ropar in a DBT sponsored research project in the field of solid tumour targeting using homing peptides and plasmonic photothermal technique, under the supervision of Dr. Himanshu Tyagi & Prof. Sarit K. Das. As part of the work performed by him at IIT Ropar, he and his co-authors were awarded the Prof. Y. V. N. Rao Best Paper Award for the paper titled "Numerical Study of Nanoparticle Injection in Tumors for Nanoparticle-assisted Hyperthermia", at the 8th International and 47th National Conference on Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power (FMFP), IIT Guwahati, Assam, India, Dec 2020. At present he is working as a mechanical design engineer in SPM (Special Purpose Machine) design and automation at KGOC Global, Ludhiana, Punjab, India.

Sachin Beejawat

Sachin visited IIT Ropar for 2 months as a part of the Summer Internship Program (2018), and worked on the project titled “Investigating the effect of a thin film of silicone oil on the efficiency of nanoparticle-laden fluid-based solar collectors”, and contributed towards research which was published in the journal Renewable Energy (Link). At that time he was a second year Mechanical Engineering student from Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. His research interest lies in the field of heat transfer enhancement, thermal energy storage and mathematical modeling of related problems.

Shahzada Randhawa

Shahzada visited IIT Ropar on an internship for about 6 weeks in October and November 2012, under SFU’s BC-India Mobility Initiative. He worked under the co-supervision of Dr. K. Vijayaraghavan (SFU), and Dr H. Tyagi (IIT Ropar) on a project to develop a model for a Solar-Wind Hybrid Power system. At that time Shahzada was a third year electronics engineering student at Simon Fraser University, Canada.

Shubhashish Garg

Shubhashish visited IIT Ropar for 2 months as part of summer internship (2013), and worked towards development of novel solar energy based technologies. At that time he was a third year Electrical and Electronics Engineering student from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur.
