Establish Policy
Recommend changes or updates to policy
Carry out the duties and functions in an ethical and responsible manner
Keep school board members informed about school operations and programs
To work with the school board and the community to develop a vision for the district
Help create an environment that is safe
Help create an environment that allows success and follows the district's mission/vision
Ensure that all students are provided with equal opportunity for success
Propose and institute long term strategic plans
Assess and develop current programs in the district
Formulate strategies to help all levels of students/staff reach their maximum potential
Make decisions based on policy/law, and consult legal or board advice as needed
Make decisions based on mission and vision of the district
Uphold policy as direct by the school board
Encourage professional development for all staff members
Recommend personnel for hire, dismissal, demotion, or discipline
Develop a communication plan
Follow the chain of command (BOE, District Administrator, School Administrator, etc.)
Oversee large district wide educational programs
Appoint individuals/groups for consultation as needed
Support and keep current with educational programs and trends
Collaborate with other districts, states, and national administrators and organizations
Self evaluate for the effectiveness toward the progress in reaching district goals
