Thoughts on Communication
- A strong leader must be organized, respect others’ opinions, and make decisions for the greater good of the organization.
- First and foremost, as a leader, I will make informed decisions based on what people around me (school and community) feel is valued and needed.
- Successful communication is essential for a good leader to influence others while maintaining respect and dignity.
- As leader of the district, I will build integrity and gain respect through effective communication.
- I will give feedback and model the way through my verbal and nonverbal actions/decisions.
- I will build a sense of community by encouraging others to express their thoughts and ideas.
- Allowing stakeholders to communicate, it gives them ownership, therefore keeping morale high.
- All media/news relations in crisis situations are done through the superintendent
- When communicating with the "passive public" be short and to the point!
- Use social media as a commercial to advertise your district and schools
- Celebrate, celebrate, celebrate
- Get active and out in the public
- Focus on the "silent majority" in times of need
- Focus on the community leaders and organizations to communicate for the district
