A unique looking tree, branches are arranged in layered tiers in whorls with small spathulate leaves. Becoming increasingly popular in formal gardens (e.g., Star hotels) due to its formal neat appearance.
Bark: Mottled pale grey, protruding brownish streaks or spots
Leaf: Smooth, glossy / shiny, thin, small spatula shaped.
Flower: Small, greenish, clustered along erect inflorescence spike (up to 2’’ long), no petals
Fruit: Fleshy Fruit, Drupe
Season: In Kolkata, most likely it does not flower (need further observation)
Range/habitat: As the name suggests, it native to Madagascar but now widely planted in formal gardens all over the tropics.
