This part of Rabindra Sarobar is the west side of the lake garden road, variously know as small lake or Maneka side lake. This is shown as zone 4 and zone 5 in the official map of KMDA (below)
We will enter by Gate number 7, from Lake Garden Road (shown as Baroj road in the map above). Just outside this gate there is a statue of Rabindranath Tagore, which can help as a landmark.
Some 50 feet inside, on your left side, beside the Calcutta University Rowing Club entrance gate, you will find a Colville's Glory tree, a rare tree in Kolkata which bloom in late monsoon in grapelike orange flowers. Unfortunately, this tree is currently (Sep 2025) labelled as Gul mohur or Krishnachura, which it resembles very closely when not in flower.

Colville's Glory tree (Colvillea racemosa)
If we go around the Calcutta University Rowing Club compound taking left twice, we will come withing some 30 feet from the lake. Here we will take the path that runs parallel to the lake.
Some 70 meters ahead, on left, we will find Divi-Divi tree which can easily be mistake as a tamarind tree.
More... on this tree.
Another 40 meters ahead on your right there are two small trees which are a close relative of Jamun. Probably this does not have a well known common English name but known as Boti jam / chuki jam in Bengali 𝘚𝘺𝘻𝘺𝘨𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘰𝘴𝘶𝘮
