AMSTERDAM

This project is to design and deliver a Guided Walk in a new area of Amsterdam. The location chosen starts on Waterlooplein because it has a tram and bus link close to a major visitor site, the Stopera Opera House & Town Hall. The walk route uses my ellipse concept with six plateaux or points of interest. The route returns you to where you started from so that you can easily find public transport again. You can chose to follow the guided walk route in one of three ways: "Said, Led or Read".

A) Said - will use the 6 audio files shown in the Google Drive frame below on this web-page. They are numbered 1 to 6 to help you find the correct one at each stop, or plateau, as I call them. To avoid roaming charges on your 'phone you should ensure you have installed the 2 Apps for Google Docs and Google Drive when you have a good Wifi signal. At the same time, please find all my files for the Guided Walk in Google Drive and set them to Available offline.

B) Led - follow the Tour Group Leader, this will be Charlie during our fieldwork, in a group of 12 maximum. The group size in busy urban areas is important; more than 12 can be a risk and often those at the back cannot hear the tour guide speak.

C) Read - will use the long Ramble Strip shown in the Google Drive frame below on this web-page. All six plateaux are in the one Google Document, so you scroll down to find the correct one at each stop, or plateau, as I call them. Do take great care when reading from your 'phone out in the street. Always stop. Stand with your back to a wall so that no traffic is behind you. Take a deep breath. Look around for other potential risks. Then read calmly, glancing up from time to time.

Alternatively, if you are with a friend, take it in turns to read the six commentary scripts from the Google Document. But stop. And stay safe.

Below are very simple, single-answer questionnaires. Choose Said - Led - or Read. Your answer will help me understand how to develop Guided Walks in the future. Thank you.
