The Jaguars in 1999 were another terrific coaching job by Bill Cherpak and his staff. Players graduate and new players rise to meet the tradition. The pipeline of football players coming from the area was only getting stronger, as the community embraced their football tradition.
The team was led offensively by the passing of Steve Scott and the receiving of Mike Virgin who broke many of the schools's passing records. The offensive line was led by Tyler Reed, and consisted of Tom Chapman, Jesse Salinger, Brandon D'Alessandro, and Matt Rehak. The line averaged 267 pounds across the front, and opened up holes for the Tom Blaze and Tom Jura.
Defensively the 99' Jaguars were led by middle linebacker Tom Chapman, Matt Perkins, Tyler Reed, and Brendan Kelly. Like in years past, players graduate and new players step up to the challenge. This year would be no different, as the Jaguars continued the reign of outstanding defenses.
The team overachieved in the eyes of the coach, finishing second in the conference and winning two playoff games, by making it to the semifinals for the second straight year before losing to a tough Tyler Palko led West Allegheny team.
