The Jaguars were young, endured changes at quarterback, and had a rash of injuries to key players, but what this team did have was the heart and desire of a champion. They overachieved in every sense of the word, and may have been head coach Bill Cherpak and his staff's greatest coaching job. The team finished in second place in the conference, won a playoff game, and nearly made it to the semifinals of the AAA playoffs.
The season started less than well with an opening season loss to rival Belle Vernon. Not only would they lose the game, they lost senior starting wide receiver and defensive back Dave Yanief for the season. One game later the team would lose its main running threat who had a 99 yard punt return to his credit in senior Tom Campedel. This prompted the move, by the suggestion of senior quarterback Jake Schneider, to move to wide reciever and have the quarterback position go to Brian Dawson. This capped a spark in the team, as having the athlete in Schneider out in space gave the team another weapon, and forced defenses to respect the threat of the pass.
Offensively they were a running team with the bruising combination of Kasey Kartman and Ryan Kenny, as each ran for over 900 yards.
Defensively they were tough as they posted 4 shutouts and were led by Clint Baldwin. The defense included players such as Schneider, Matt Virgin, and Sean Malley.
The season was a complete success, as the Jaguar tradition of playing hard nosed football and being a force within the WPIAL AAA ranks continued.
