2023 Away Tournament Results
Overall 2023 Away Tournament Champions
There is one season long winner for each flight. While there is no specific prize money (they won enough during the year!) winners get their names engraved onto a trophy plaque at Tilden Park. The winners have the lowest COMBINED NET SCORES for their best 6 of our 9 away tournaments. Some people who played just 5 tournaments also had low scores (I mean you Jean!) but unfortunately did not have the qualifying number of tournaments played.

Chardonnay Sept 11th
It was quite simply a GLORIOUS day up in wine country at the Chardonnay Golf Club! Cloudless sky, mild temperatures, and a course that was in very good shape. I just wish the Chardonnay management had been a little more ready for us to play. Thank you all for putting up with the 'minor' confusion at the start.
Congratulations to our winners:

Rossmoor Aug 28th
It not only was HOT, but also unusually HUMID at Rossmoor this year! 9 of the 56 golfers in the field gave it up before completing their rounds. And it was a particularly challenging day to walk the course! Those of us that did were most happy to reach the final hole of the day.

Indian Valley Results - July 10
We trekked across bridges to Novato to play at the hilly and scenic Indian Valley Golf Club - it was comfortably warm and sunny and everyone was impressed with the conditions and course design.
Despite the nonstop elevation changes and and many challenging holes, there were some low scores to be had. Our average net score of 78.1 was our best this year at our away tournaments. We must be getting better... or maybe our indexes are just higher?
Net Score Winners:
Championship Flight Flight 1 Flight 2
Alan Petersen 1. Bruce Cesar 1. Jim Olsen
Roger Bird 2. Bill Swartz 2. Thom Coberg
3T Jim Diederich 3. Gary Palmer 3. Francis Bird
3T Mike Piasente
The Low Gross prize went to Jim Diederich, who carded a nifty 80, beating out everyone else by 2+ strokes.
Closest to the Pin (CTTP): Jim Olsen cleaned up in Flight 2, winning all three CTTPs. We'll have to determine what he had for breakfast that day! Steve Shmanske also won two holes in the Championship Flight. Unfortunately for them, only one CTTP can be won per person, so some 2nd place finishers were in the money. Other winners were Roger Bird, Tomas Frank, Marsha Jaeger, Carol Martin, Alan Petersen, and Larry Sanders.

Poppy Ridge Results - May 8th
Poppy Ridge proved to be surprisingly dry despite the fact that many of us drove through heavy rain squalls to get there. It was challenging, perhaps a tad cool, but otherwise an enjoyable day. Thanks to all who made a special effort to keep up the pace of play. The first several groups completed their rounds in 4 1/2 hrs or less.
Congrats to the winners! It was a competitive field across all three flights. There was a 3-way tie for first place net in the Championship Flight and a 2-way tie for first place net in Flight 1. No one "ran away" from the field to win. Cory Comer won the Low Gross with an 84.

Lone Tree Results - April 3rd
It was an "interesting" day at Lone Tree on Monday. Clear skies for most of the field. A bit brisk with a chilly wind, so lots of layers were necessary, particularly as the winds picked up and the clouds got darker. Those of us at the tail end of the pack got the stronger winds and a bit of rain to cope with in the bargain. And the greens were another challenge! They rolled true, but were LIGHTNING FAST and very difficult to hold. ..... hardly a Tilden experience in either aspect.
Congratulations to Dru Nielson who not only conquered the greens, apparently, but vanquished the field as the Championship Flight net score winner AND low gross winner with a sizzling 78 - six strokes clear of the rest of the field.
Net Score winners:

A complete listing of the results and prizes awarded (in Tilden Gift Card value) is below. There were some tee changes that caused slight differences in some player's course handicaps and net scores. Some were necessary because the course set the Red tees at the "Tournament" distance, and some were made by the golfers themselves on the first tee.
Boundary Oak Results - March 27th
It was a perfect day for golf for 52 members and guests. While the greens could be tough and many near gimmies were missed, there were some good scores out there with 17 players recording net eagles. Randy Raines had two of them (10th and 15th holes) while John Rice started off the 1st hole with a net albatross (birdy with 2 strokes)!
Overall Winners: Winners of our three flights, based on Net Scores, were: new member Charlie Wicke (Championship flight); Dan Gabe (Flight 1); and Anna Maiolini (Flight 2).
The Low Gross prize went to Mike Martinez, who score 79, beating out everyone else by 2+ strokes.
Closest to the Pin (CTTP): Section 2 of the results provides the details, but the CTTPs from the White tees were won by: Mark Cisneros, Will Glennon, Mike Martinez and Steve Sandoval. From the Gold or Red tees, the CTTPs were won by Michele Carson, Merrilee Nohr, Gary Palmer, and Gillian Silva.
Congratulations to the winners! Winning amounts will be loaded into existing Tilden Gift cards or new cards can be picked up at the Tilden Golf Shop. Golf Mart gift cards will be mailed.
See the tables below for the complete results.
Castlewood Country Club (Hill Course) Feb 16th
Below are the results from our first Away Tournament of 2023. We had 55 golfers at this beautiful country club course in the hills of Pleasanton. The course was in great condition and the greens were sloping and fast. Congratulations to everyone who came out to enjoy great weather (once the frost delay wore off), some laughs and some frustrations, on a challenging course!
A glitch we had early on in some of the course handicap calculations was fixed. Let's just say that our software, Golf Genius, has its quirks.
Overall Winners: Winners of our three flights, based on Net Scores, were: Corey Comer (Championship flight); Donn Morgan (Flight 1); and Craig Fendel (Flight 2).
The Low Gross prize went to Steve Smith, who shot a nifty 82, beating out everyone else by 3+ strokes.
Closest to the Pin: Section 2 of the results provides the details, but the closest shots were made by: Mike Piasente, Mark Cisneros, Ernie Carson, and Randy Felix. The 2nd closest to the pins (also won small prizes) were made by John Brewster, Bob Onorato, Steve Schmanske, and Mike Ward.
