This presents a broad outline of our club to help you derive the greatest possible benefits from belonging.  Men and women who are 50 years or more are welcome to join.  There are no other requirements for membership.

Club Benefits

We are an active club with the following benefits:

• Home and away tournaments February-November.

• Several Away Tournaments at premium courses and country clubs; see our current calendar.

• A modest membership fee of $35 per year

• Optional Senior Monthly Card, currently can be purchased in the Pro Shop at Tilden, good for 10 green fees on weekdays (M-Th) from the date of purchase until the card expires on the corresponding date of the next month.  It is a special benefit mandated by the East Bay Regional Park District exclusive for our members.  Cart fees are extra at a senior rate.  

• Two major social events: Annual BBQ/Picnic and Holiday Luncheon.

• The lowest NCGA membership fee (optional).   Those wishing to play for prizes must have an official index (GHIN handicap).  All tournaments are handicapped scoring.  We have golfers with a wide range of indexes, from single digits to above the mid 30's.

• Opportunity to meet other senior golfers.

Membership

We have 190+ members.  We are a congenial group of easy going golfers whose main interest is in having an enjoyable round of golf with others, whether it be a casual round or a competition and who take pride in the relaxed nature of our club.  Players join our club for one or more of the benefits mentioned.  Although a majority of members are men, in recent years more women have joined and enjoyed both our home and away tournaments, have won prizes, and have been added to our clubhouse trophies.

Meeting Other Members

Generally speaking in March through October we have two club tournaments per month, one away and one home (see below), with a calendar week in between.  So if you enjoy playing at Tilden on a regular basis, playing in our home events is a good way to meet others. Because of our diversity of  interests, we are not like a typically tight knit golf club where everyone is expected to play in a weekly home event and the club is almost like an extended family.  However, there are several affinity groups for 4 or more players who play regularly at Tilden and there are opportunities of meeting some of these players to integrate into a small group.  

Social Events

In addition to golf we also hold social events. The annual Summer Picnic is held in Tilden Park and is usually in late August or September.  The annual Christmas Luncheon is in the Brazil Room in Tilden Park in early December, usually two weeks after Thanksgiving.  Our Fall Scramble or other team events (such as the 2025 Ryder Cup Event) is sometimes a guest event where any senior may participate.   Some years we use it as a fundraiser which includes a shotgun start, raffles, putting contest, special prizes, and lunch.   

Home Tournaments

Each month, February - November, we have at least one home event:  Winter League, Summer League, Spring & Fall Scrambles, individual & team match play tournaments, our club championship, and the President's Cup.  Except for the match play, our home tournaments are generally scheduled on the third Thursday of the month.   Please look at the Calendar page of this Bulletin Board to see the current schedule of events.

 Away Tournaments

We schedule nine away tournaments at courses each year in the broader Bay Area, some being held a premium courses and country clubs.  We generally schedule these to be about once a month and in alternate weeks to home events so as to avoid holidays.  Most of these are on a Monday.  These Away Tournaments are also included on the Calendar page of this Bulletin Board.
