This station is typical of those found in moderate threat level systems where the State wishes to maintain a visible but not overwhelming presence. It is intended to effect positive control over an area of space where a jump point exists by monitoring and controlling traffic, rendering aid when necessary while also being capable of defending itself (or at least surviving long enough to serve as a tripwire alarm to forces elsewhere in the system). Although it has no dedicated hangar space, such stations are commonly assigned a compliment of small craft suitable for safety, inspection and rescue (SIR) missions.
While the station is listed as having 120 crew cabins it actually possesses the equivalent of 60 double sized cabins. This affords the crew extra living space more suitable to extended tours of station duty.
