Remember the adage "as the twig is bent, so grows the tree"?
Well, it is far simpler to grow healthy children than wait until the “tree is bent”.

Growing healthy kids involves many dimensions. We work at the foundational level to make sure all dimensions are balanced so your child can thrive. Most people understand the need for excellent nutrition, exercise and emotional balance. We work with families to ensure balance in each of these dimensions, as well as addressing the most commonly missed factor affecting health: the relationship between spinal biomechanics and nerve function.

Regular chiropractic care for children is often recommended to optimize health and human development. Chiropractic is safe for kids, and it’s different than for grown-ups: the forces used are gentler, and there are a variety of special techniques just for kids. Regular check-ups and spinal adjustments for yourself and your children will help to ensure that everyone in your family maintains excellent health.

It is the experience of those people who are familiar with regular chiropractic care for children to observe that those children develop their potential better than those without - whether their potential is in math, music, athletics, or just being a more loving member of the family.

We have high hopes for our children. Above all we want them to be happy, be healthy and reach their fullest potential.

Infants

A baby's spine and nervous system first develop in utero, so it's a good idea for mom to have regular chiropractic checkups during pregnancy to ensure optimum spinal and neurological development and function.

Pulling, forcing and twisting a baby from the birth canal are still too common. Cesarean section, forceps, suction extraction or eager hands can do unseen damage. Even "natural" birthing methods can put tremendous pressures on a child's spine.

Can you recognize the signs of spinal nerve interference in your child?

Without the language to explain, many newborns experience colic, unexplained crying, lack of appetite, nursing difficulties, frequent ear infections or other signs of poor health. Newborns & infants often show a tendency to hold their head to one side or prefer breastfeeding from one side. These are ways they cope with abnormal spine function and an impaired nervous system.

A chiropractic examination is essential to determine if birth trauma to the spine is involved.

Then, if indicated, a gentle adjustment is given. With no more pressure than you'd use to test the ripeness of a peach, nerve-compromising subluxations can be reduced, restoring spinal integrity from birth stress. Almost miraculously, many parents see instant improvements in the well-being of the child.

Later, regular chiropractic checkups are helpful to monitor spinal development as infants sit upright, support their heads, learn to crawl and take their first brave steps. Many experts believe that uncorrected spinal problems during this early stage of development cause the chronic, hard-to-correct subluxations seen in adults.

Kids

Learning to walk, running around, falling down, playing with siblings and friends, and sitting at a desk in school all day are just a few of the common challenges for growing spines.

Children can benefit greatly from regular chiropractic care. In fact, children tend to respond faster to chiropractic care than any other age group. Many childhood health challenges have been traced to spinal subluxations in the nervous system and alleviated with chiropractic adjustments, including:

  • Chronic ear infections / earaches
  • Neurosensory integration disorders
(ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, etc)
  • Headaches
  • Bedwetting
  • Developmental delays
  • Scoliosis
  • Breathing difficulties
         (like asthma & allergies)
  • Frequent colds
  • Seizure disorders

As you make decisions about your child's healthcare and are confronted with the issues of antibiotics, vaccinations and the growing use of behavior altering drugs, consult with us. Seek accurate information and make an informed choice.

First, make sure your child has the best chance to be all that he or she can be by having a nervous system free of subluxations.

Teens

In addition to regular childhood activities like skating or riding a bike, as the child starts to participate in more athletics, small yet significant spinal misalignments (subluxations) may occur. If neglected, the injuries during this period of rapid growth may lead to more serious problems later in life. Subtle trauma throughout childhood will affect the future development of the spine leading to impaired nervous system function.

Any interference to the vital nerve system will adversely affect the body’s ability to function at its best.

One of the most common reasons parents seek care for their teenager is trauma from an injury of some sort. These misalignments may or may not result in immediate pain or symptoms. Regular chiropractic checkups can identify potential spinal injury from these traumas, make the correction early in life and help avoid many of the health complaints seen later in adults. Proper spinal hygiene is an important key to better health.

Benefits of chiropractic care include:

  • improved memory
  • stable mood: calmer & happier
  • stronger immune system
  • better concentration
  • improved sleep
  • enhanced athletic ability: grace, agility, strength
  • rapid recovery from injuries
  • maintenance of good body mechanics
  • cost-effective care for extremity injuries (wrist, ankle, shoulder, etc)
