Student data is crucial in guiding my future teaching to ensure I am addressing the National Curriculum adequately and that I am meeting all of my students needs and abilities. Every decision I make about my teaching is based on student data and is centered around my students needs.
I would like to use a student self reflection survey to gain a clear view of how students feel they are going at school. This ensures that I am providing a safe and supportive classroom for my students.

In my future classrooms I would like to explore the use of a data wall. This aligns with my use of John Hattie's 'Visible Learning' and allowing students to see how they are tracking towards their learning goals. For this to be effective students need to know where they are in their learning, where they are going and how they are going to get there.
A technique that I have used effectively in my year 2 classrooms is the thumbs up-thumbs down self assessment. This technique needs to be explicitly taught and it is only effective when students are comfortable in their current understanding of a concept. This then enables me to differentiate the remainder of the lesson, such as keeping thumbs down students on the floor with me.
In all of my lessons I am constantly questioning for understanding, observing, marking work and giving feedback in real time. I aim to use a range of both formative and summative assessment techniques and ensuring assessments are relevant to my students.
