Day 14 - Do you need TallyJ?

Maybe not!

But please consider... if you live in a community with more than 100 Baha'is, the tellers in your elections might appreciate using TallyJ, and the community will enjoy shorter election meetings!

However, few communities have permanent, full-time tellers. Most appoint tellers and head teller before each election. This means that there may be no one in your community who is considering whether to use TallyJ. You may even be the only one who knows that it exists!

So... I would like to ask you to take the initiative to share the news regarding TallyJ with your Assembly, and/or the individuals in your community who have been head tellers in the past. If they are aware of TallyJ, then they can look at it for themselves, to decide whether they would like to use it.

But, unless you let them know, it might never happen! Please don't assume that someone else will tell them!

Below is a sample of what you could include in an email being sent to them...

Dear _____,

I've recently been learning about a computer program that tellers can use to help with the entire process of elections. It claims to speed up the tallying process, and can also help with registration and ballot collection.

It is called TallyJ, and is on the Internet at http://tallyj.apphb.com/ . You can read more about it on its Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/TallyJ.Support), particularly in the Notes.
