What can the TallyJ system do?

The core app is designed to:

• provide a tool to record the names submitted on paper ballots

  • tellers type the names on each ballot into the computer

  • this process is very quick, as the system finds matches for each name as it is entered

• after all the ballots are entered, the tool provides a Review page where the chief teller can analyze the results, identify tie or close counts and approve the report

• once approved, a variety of reports can be viewed or printed

An optional feature of the core app:

• Register people as they arrive at the voting venue

  • The ballots that have been delivered by mail or dropped off by other can also be recorded

  • There are two main purposes for this optional feature

    • More accurate recording of the sources of ballots

    • To facilitate the use of the Announcer module
