"Are we done yet?"
When tellers are busy entering the ballots into the computers, it may be difficult to determine how long it will be until they are done. If they are all together in one room, it may not be too hard. But if they are divided between two rooms, or, in a large community, in multiple locations, then knowing the status is a bit harder. Today, using multiple locations may not be very common except with local by-elections.
TallyJ has a screen to help with this, for use by the head teller. Again, for many today, this will be of interest, but not too important. But if you do have tellers in multiple locations, it becomes very useful!
Here is a simple example:
From this, we can learn that:
The Downtown location has finished entering all their ballots, and have set their status to "Done"
The Main location still has 2 more to go, and has a problem of some sort that they need help with.
Most of the ballots in the Main location have been entered at Computer A.
The tellers currently using Computer A are Glen and Susan.
The tellers in the Main location have set their contact information to a phone number.
From all this, the head teller can decide to give the Main location a call to help them out.
Also on this screen, the head teller can set the overall state of the election process... currently sitting at "Tally in Progress". This status can be viewed from other teller's computers.
It is not much, and may not be useful for everyone, but with this page, the head teller can indeed monitor the state of the election!
