Tagbilaran City Host Lions Club Sight for Kids (SFK) committee chair Armando Maranga conducted a sight screening for more than fifteen (15) grades 1 to 4 students who were suspect of eye refraction errors. The initial sight screening were given by the teachers and the Lions conducted the second screening to verify if indeed the children have eyesight problems. And seven (7) of them were confirmed to have eyesight measure of over 20/40. These children will be accompanied by the SFK chair to an optometrist for professional screening and fitting of eyeglasses. The SFK initiative aims to detect and treat refractive error (nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism) in young children. These easily-correctable disorders are the leading causes of blindness in children if not discovered at the early stages.
