The Tagbilaran City Host Lions Club responded to the call for help from the residents of Busao Maribojoc after their place was flooded by Typhoon Seniang which struck Bohol last December 29, 2015. Water level rose 6 meters above the high tide mark of Abatan river inundating houses near the riverbanks. Barangay Captain Rosario Dapiton related that this level was the highest experienced as far as she can remember. "The last flooding was in 1990 but it was only 6 feet (2 meters) above the high tide mark," she said. "Thank you Lions of Tagbilaran for coming in our time of need."
The club brought some items for distribution to 82 identified household in the morning of January 3. VP Joey Labrador and Secretary Jocel Canuto conducted an ocular visit earlier on January 1 to confer with barangay officials as to what items are preferred. Other groups and government agencies have already responded and brought food, water, and clothing. TCHLC prepared 82 packs containing a 2-liter cooking pot, 5 plates, 5 drinking glasses, and 5 spoons. The club also brought monggo porridge and bread, good for about 80 persons, which was served to children and volunteers who were clearing the mud from the barangay multipurpose pavement. It was sad to hear the residents sharing their experience during the night of the flood when their livestock and possessions were swept away by the water. "We are still thankful that we are still alive. The things we lost are only temporary and can be replaced later," said one resident. One concern that still bother them is the 4-classroom school building that was flattened by the current, leaving only the bare floor. The barangay elementary student numbers about 150+
