Lesson 21
Speaker: Kevin
Numbers 15-19
Aim
There is only one path that leads to salvation--the path to the cross where Jesus died for my sins.
And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. (Romans 6:18 NKJV)
But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:22-23 NKJV)
Principle
Disobedience leads to separation in our relationship with God. Obedience leads to righteousness that comes from God.
Numbers 15 teaches us that sin is serious. Sin is a big deal; don't be a slave to sin, but a slave to righteousness.
Principle
Grumbling about those whom God has placed in positions of authority in your life is rebellion against God.
Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods. (Numbers 16:31-32 NKJV)
Principle
Jesus Christ is God's appointed mediator.
Jesus was placed in a position of authority over us. When we are a slave to righteousness, we submit to the authority of Jesus Christ.
Rebellions against leaders chosen by God fail. See Numbers 16.
Applications
1) Daily take up your cross and fully obey God
2) Faithfully submit to God's chosen leaders.
3) Deny yourself for the sake of others.
