Aim: God's presence is the most important thing in my life.
Idols stop us from loving God with ALL of our hearts.
1) God's presence--------------Exodus 33:7-17
2) God's glory-------------------Exodus 33:18-34:28
3) God's transformation--------Exodus 34:29-35
"So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend..." -Exodus 33:11 NKJV
God spoke to Moses "face to face." He spoke to Moses as a friend, with a personal relationship. Moses would not allow anything to come between him and the Lord.
Principle
A close personal relationship with God is needs regular fellowship with God.
It requires time and effort, just like any friendship. Time spent with Jesus is always well worth it! Set aside time to spend with Jesus.
Principle
When I have God's presence with me, I have all that I need.
Finances, employment, health, etc. are all insignificant cares without the presence of God in our lives--no matter how tough things are/seem.
"...be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
-Hebrews 13:5-6 NKJV
Principle
God's glory is shown when I experience God's character in my life.
And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”
-(Exodus 34:6-7 NKJV)
We experience God's glory through His forgiveness of our sins. God's justice and His forgiveness meet at the death of Jesus on the cross.
God's glory is amazing. Let His glory shine through our lives!
"But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."
-2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV
Principle
I glory God when I manifest God's character in my life.
As we spend time with God, we draw closer to Him and reflect His character to the people around us.
God is the most important thing in our lives. We must do everything we can to have God and His glory shine all around!
