Aim: To have a vibrant personal relationship with God, I must be holy as He is holy.
1) Offerings for God------------------Leviticus 1-7
2) Cleanliness before God-----------Leviticus 11-15
3) Obedience to God-----------------Leviticus 17-24
Sin breaks our relationship with God. Offerings and sacrifices reconcile us to God.
Sin affects everyone.
"if the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, then let him offer to the LORD for his sin which he has sinned a young bull without blemish as a sin offering."
-Leviticus 4:3 NKJV
Animal sacrifices cannot fully atone for all of our sins.
"For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins."
-Hebrews 10:4 NKJV
Principle
Only faith in the sacrifice of Jesus removes sin and makes me holy.
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24 NIV)
Jesus's blood is sprinkled on us and our hearts are cleansed!
"Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water."
(Hebrews 10:19-22 NIV)
God wants us to be holy. To do this, all we need is Jesus. He makes us holy. It is the only way to be holy.
