Charles R. Moeser Jr. (Chip) passed away peacefully on March 1, 2014 in Naples, Florida
at the age of 84. He was the son of Charles R. Moeser and Clarita M. Moeser of Sea
Island, Georgia.
He was a wonderful and loving father to his children and a proud grandfather to his 7
grandchildren. He was a very compassionate man whose sense of responsibility and
loyalty was unparalleled. He was also an incredibly kind, sensitive and gentle man who
loved more than anything to be with his kids and grandkids as demonstrated by his
unwavering sense of family and duty.
Chip proudly served in the United States Air Force as a pilot in the Strategic Air Command
at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida and in Omaha, Nebraska. He also
participated in survival training at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. Chip
was a successful businessman serving the energy business in Grand Junction, CO. He
had a great love for the outdoors: he was an avid skier, fisherman, hunter and pilot. He
also loved his three dogs, Blue, Blitz, and Honey.
He was born in NY, NY and lived in Bronxville, NY; Bedford, NY; Queenstown, MD; Sea
Island, GA; Cincinnati, OH; and Grand Junction, CO. He attended The Lawrenceville
School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey and Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado
(Class of 1951) where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. While in college, he
was elected to the National Ski Patrol in Climax, Colorado. He also spent a great deal of
time at one of his favorite places: McGregor Bay, Ontario, Canada.
He is survived by his sister, Leigh Thayer of Hamilton, MA; his ex-wife, Elaine Moeser of
Naples, Florida; his sons Charles A. Moeser of Buffalo, NY and Richard M. Moeser of
Palm Beach, FL; and his daughter, Elaine M. Altvater of Mill Valley, California. He is also
survived by his daughters-in-law: Jennifer Moeser of Buffalo, NY; and Victoria Harper of
Greenwich, CT ; and his son-in-law, Kurt F. Altvater; along with his seven grandchildren:
Ian, Dylan, and Leigh Moeser of Buffalo, NY; Alexander and Marina Moeser of Greenwich,
CT; and Konrad and Maren Altvater of Mill Valley, CA.
We will miss him greatly and he will forever be in our hearts.
