29 November 2016 - EngineDriver
I just downloaded EngineDriver on to my 2 new Fires. Version 2.12 on Google and Steve Todd's sites wouldn't install but version 2.11 on the Amazon site installed fine.
25 November 2016 - Black Friday Fires
I just bought 2 more Amazon Fires in the Black Friday sales at just £29.99 each. These are my preferred wireless throttles running Engine Driver as described below. I also bought two in the August Bank Holiday sales at £39.99 each. That gives me 5 altogether, as well as my 3 iPODs running WiThrottle.
4 July 2016 - The Plan
My 3mm layout will be DCC throughout although the Hamworthy branch will be switchable to DC for visiting locos.
The command station is a Lenz LZV100. Accessory and track busses will be driven by MERG boosters.
A Lenz 23151 USB/LAN Interface connects the Xpressnet to a PC network. A PC on the network runs CTI's TBrain for point and signal control, and ultimately automatic train operation.
The same physical network and WiFi are used for both the 3mm and 7mm layouts but each has its own PC running CTI and its own WiThrottle server. I have been using 3 iPODs running WiThrottle for control. Recently I bought an Amazon Fire 7 running EngineDriver. I prefer the functionality on the Fire and I will be buying some more. The current price is £49.99 but I bought mine in the sales for £39.99. This is very good value.
Points and signals will be controlled by servos using MERG DCC Accessory Decoders and Servo4 drivers. I am currently working on an etched Turnout Operating Unit for servo control.
