The Root Problem In The Church Today

My heart is, and has been troubled about the state of the Church over the last thirty years or so, and how horribly we have taken on all kinds of traditions of men. These too, are customs that invalidate Scripture as Jesus scolded the Pharisees for. I have been feeling burdened by God to author a book and uncover what I believe to be the central or fundamental cause that enables us to develop these unscriptural traditions.

Yet when I have talked over these things with pastors and Believers, even though they agree that we now preach a sugar-coated gospel message, they just are not able to see the profundity of the problem. It threatens their foundational beliefs far too much. I needed to write a fact based treatise, with much facts and figures demonstrating what I am trying to present.

Through my many years, I have not been a reader of lots of works of other established Christian authors. I examine my Bible in a range of translations and I have developed a good resource library of Bible dictionaries, Greek & Hebrew dictionaries, commentaries and many additional books.

But approximately 4 years ago in the middle of a personal tragedy, I needed Spiritual encouragement and opened my company Facebook account to friends. I accumulated approximately 100 friends plus family and friends of friends. It was a good support arrangement, but more than that, I noticed people who also believed like I did. I was impressed. There were quotations of notable Christian authors and pastors, that I recognized, but had not been a reader of any of their works. These were so substantiating for me, so I have included many in this book.

My basic dissertation is that, the church has read, preached, written, talked, taught and proclaimed, far too much on the subject of how 'God loves us soooo much and has a wonderful plan for our life'.

This has then moved other essential characteristics of God, to the background - God as the Judge, hades, winning over sin, totalsubmission to God, steadfast in suffering, how terribly evil sin is, how central holiness is, etc.... and it has resulted us to understand the Word of God poorly in various ways. We have created incorrect theology that directs our lives and our churches. Issues like, judge not anyone; never expose sinfulness; unity without exception; anyone that states anything that can offend somebody is not a 'good' Christian....etc.
