EUSI Dinner 8 Mar - Short Notice
The Edmonton United Services Institute is hosting BGen Gwen Bourque for a dinner on 8 Mar. The RSVP is due to Maj (Ret'd) Alex Tsang tomorrow. Details are at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VgiFQUpW1Gdh_WOTMhQq2yCC3nvTWdqh/edit#heading=h.gjdgxs
I served with BGen Bourque when we were both young captains. She's an amazing lady, and I've enjoyed watching her progress from afar.
Greetings from Steenbergen
John Nijssen, the Chief of the Mayor's Office from Steenbergen, sends his and the Mayor's greetings, and has asked me to pass those greetings on to the entire Regimental Family. John has been a key organizer with various activities in and around Steenbergen and Welberg.
From NCVA
As many of you know, the SALHRA is a member of the National Council of Veterans Associations. They act as the lobbying body for veterans' issues. This allows us to focus on our membership and events.
2024 Battlefield Tours
Captain Brian Talty is putting the finishing touches on the 2024 Battlefield Tour schedules and pricing. Watch for an email from me in the next couple weeks with full details.
Buddy Check Coffee
Two members of our Association are part of a national program running a Buddy Check coffee program at their local legions. If you're looking to sit down with a group of veterans for a chat, these are great events.
MCpl Terry Grabowski runs the Buddy Check program at RCL 265 Stony Plain:
"The Last Sunday of the Month Starting @ 1400 hours has been set aside for a gathering of Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces & RCMP and all those serving on active duty to come together in Fellowship and to be introduced to the Legion. Coffee and Donuts will be Served. All Veterans Welcome." You can email Terry at rcrman507@gmail.com Terry is well-informed on a variety of service initiatives for veterans. If you're having trouble navigating any services, for example, contacting Terry is well worthwhile.
WO (Ret'd) Louise Abdou runs the Buddy Check program at RCL 175 Kingsway the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 1100. She would love to have you drop by. You can email her at edm175buddycheckcoffee@outlook.com

Some sad news, Francine as the wife of Honorary SAR Thierry Coppieters 't Wallant passed away on 18 Jan at her home in Knokke-Heist, Belgium. Thierry and his family have been great friends to the Regiment. Those who were in Belgium for the Battlefield Tour will recall Thierry and his daughter Anne joining us for the dinner in Oostkamp. Some of you may also recall meeting Thierry when he and his family visited Canada in 2017.
Warmest Regards,
Jason
