Q Acoustics 2020i

After a couple of visits to Richer Sounds and a listen to the QAcoustic speakers I made my choice and opted for the QAcoustic 2020i Speakers.

The speakers are part of my PC 7.1 System. I do not have much space so wanted the speakers to be on the small size. For a bookshelf type setup the 2020i is just about right. These speakers achieved 5Star on WhatHiFi and the 2000i package also got a top rating from TrustedReviews.

I did not want to spent too much for a speaker system for my PC sound system. The Q Acoustic 3000 series are still on the expensive side for me so I opted for the 2020i which are excellent in my opinion. My amplifier is a SONY STR-DB795 which drives 100W per channel and is never set to above -45db. I wired my speakers in a Bi-Wire configuration. I did not use the foam baffle. The Speakers are very well built and seem very solid. The connection terminals are easy to connect, either use a banana plug or feed the wire into the terminal hole and tighten. The wiring is under the speakers so is well hidden and out of the way.

The pair of speakers are placed on desk as the front pair of speakers. The sound is very clear and crisp. The bass is strong but not overpowering. I tested using 2 channel on my SONY amplifier, so without any SUBWoofer Bass and it sounded very good and the bass was strong and punchy. Tested using DreamTheater "In the presence of enemies" , "Close to the Edge" by Yes..."Mr Big" by Free and "My Favorite Headache" by Geddy Lee which has great bass riff.....amazing.

As for the Stereo seperation it is excellent. Midrange and hifrequency sounds were tested using a few tracks using Joe Satriani guitar work and all was crisp and clear.

I have now had the speakers for a couple of months so they have bedded in and have no complaints whatsoever. As always with speakers and headphones it is the listener who has the final say. For me I would recommend these speakers without any reservation for the price. Obviously there are better speakers in other price brackets but I'm happy with my choice.
