There was a John Chambers who owned 200 acres of land in Chichester Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania from 10 Dec 1700 until 1721. He evidently remained a resident up through 1715. In the tax records of 1719 and 1720, he was listed as a nonresident. He sold his 200 acres in 1721. After this there is no further record of him.
The name of John Chambers' wife has not been discovered.
This John Chambers would seem to be the most likely candidate for being the father of the Lydia Chambers who married Arthur Barrett in 1705, the Katherine Chambers who married Alexander Ross in 1706, and the Rebeckah Chambers who married William Baels/Beals in 1712. Although there is nothing which identifies the father of Lydia Chambers, because her marriage took place only a year before the marriage of Katherine Chambers and because both the Barrett and Ross families later settled in Frederick County, Virginia, the assumption has been made that they were sisters. Noncontemporary biographies of Alexander Ross have stated that Katherine was "of Chichester", which would match up with John Chambers of Chichester. The Quaker records of the marriage of Rebeckah Chambers identified her father as "John Chambers of Chichester".
[NOTE: The above John Chambers was NOT the John Chambers whose first wife was Elizabeth Austwick. This latter John Chambers has often been incorrectly cited as being the father of Lydia, Katherine, and Rebeckah Chambers.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As shown in the court records below, John Chambers' 200 acres were originally owned by Thomas Withers, who sold them to Roger Jackson on 20 February 1699, who then sold them to John Chambers on 10 December 1700.
Court records again mention John Chambers in a 1709 road order.

The following tax records show that in 1715 John Chambers was still living in Upper Chichester Township of Chester County, Pennsylvania. But within the next four years he had moved elsewhere, for in 1719 and 1720 he was listed as a nonresident landowner.
Then, as given above, on 20 April 1721 he sold his 200 acres in Chichester to Roger Shelley. This is the last record we have for John Chambers. Where he had moved to and when he died are unknown.
The 1715 tax list of lower Chichester;
Philip Roman, Jonah Roan, Robert Roman, John Rawson, Richard Bezer, Philip Pedrick, Anthony Baldwin, William Flower, Mordecai Howell, John Royley, Richard Edwards, William Clayton, William Hewes, William Hewes, jr., John Hopton, Richard Crosby, and John Boss. Freemen were John Flower, Thomas Clayton, and Thomas Howell.

ROSS, ALEXANDER, a member of the
Society of Friends, migrated from
Ireland, and settled within the bounds
of Chester Monthly Meeting, early in
the 18th century. In 1706, he married
Catharine Chambers of Chichester, and
in 1713 removed to Haverford, and in
1715, back again within the bounds of
Chester Meeting, and from thence with-
in the bounds of New Garden Meeting,
where it appears he remained till
about the year 1733, when he in com-
pany with several other Pennsylvania
Quakers, obtained a grant for 100,000
acres of land from the governor and
council of Virginia, on a stream in that
State called Opecan. To this place
Alexander removed with his associates
in the purchase, formed a settlement,
and established a meeting, which is
possibly still kept up His children
were Mary, Lydia. Rebecca, John,
George and Albeinah.

1 " Alexander Ross resided in Scotland, where his son John was born in 1637,
and his grandson John Ross (the son of John) in 1658. The latter [i.e. his grandson John] moved with
his wife and five children to the city of Derry, Ireland, in 1689. He was in the
battle of the Boyne." His son Alexander Ross (who probably was born in
Scotland) migrated from Ireland and settled in the bounds of Chester Monthly
Meeting early in the eighteenth century. In 1706 he married Catherine Cham-
bers, of Chichester, Chester County, Pennsylvania. In 1713 he moved to
Haverford, and in 1715 moved back to Chester, and from there went to New
Garden Meeting and settled in that portion afterwards cutoff to form East Not-
tingham Meeting in 1730. About the year 1731 he with other Friends obtained
from Governor Gooch, of Virginia, a patent for seventy thousand acres of land
in the valley of Virginia, which he located north, east, and west of the present
town of Winchester. ...

land near Opequan Creek, in what is now Frederick County,
Virginia. To this place Ross and his associates removed, formed

SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION OR JUST A COINCIDENCE??
A connection of sorts can be made from a John Chambers who was a servant of Joseph Shaw of Brandywine Creek, New Castle County, Delaware in 1689/90 to a John Chambers who bought land in Chichester Township in 1700:
1. John Chambers was a servant of Joseph Shaw of Brandywine Creek, New Castle County, Delaware in 1689/90. He is mentioned in Shaw's will.
2. In 1690 a court in Chester County, Pennsylvania ordered that this John Chambers serve the remainder of his time (presumably referring to his time as an indentured servant) to Jeremiah/Jeremy Collett, who was Shaw's executor.
3. In 1692 Elizabeth Collett, daughter of Jeremiah Collett, married Thomas Withers.
4. On 13 December 1699, Rodge/Roger Jackson won a lawsuit against Thomas Withers, who had agreed to sell him land in Chichester Township but later reneged. By deed dated 20 February 1700, Thomas WITHERS granted to Roger JACKSON all his right & title to 200 acres in Chichester Township.
5. On 10 December 1700, Roger Jackson sold there 200 acres to a John Chambers.
Note: Most indentured servants were not allowed to marry. If the first-mentioned John Chambers was some sort of indentured servant in 1690, and if he later became the John Chambers of Chichester, then he must have already had a family by the mid 1680's, during his servitude, in order to have daughters who were old enough to marry in 1705 and 1706. Perhaps he was an indentured redemptioner, a servant who brought his whole family with him; however, this system does not seem to have emerged until the 18th century (i.e., the 1700's).
