Well, I was forced to convert to Google's new site.
They say
"Layout: Some elements may not be perfectly sized or aligned. You might need to edit the site layout."
"Text styles: There are fewer formatting options."
"Tips: All other text formatting, like font color or size, won't show up on your new site. Learn how to change the font color. Heading sizes on a new site may not match your classic site. "
That's an understatement.
I've lost all my previous, painstakingly entered formatting: colored text now all black; line spacing defaulted to double spaced; and all fonts defaulted to a single style and size. Years of work undone in an instant. Damn you Google. For hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee. You jerks.
They do have a line spacing control, but it only works on wraparound text. As you can see above after the phrase "You jerks", two lines separated by hitting the ENTER button automatically get a blank line inserted in between. But I don't want that blank line!!
Perhaps worst of all, the editing function--instead of loading more-or-less instantaneously as it did previously--now takes forever on my longer webpages. It times out before it has a chance to load. It must take minutes to load. Essentially, Google may have rendered me incapable of ever again editing those pages.
Presumably all my information is still there (although I'm too heartbroken to check out everything), but now it will be more of a slog to find it.
And please allow me to reiterate my feelings toward all the folks at google with a quote by Charlton Heston's character in the last scene from Planet of the Apes: "God damn you all to hell."

Links to various compilations of information are show in the column at the left.
Additional offsite articles
These are "published to the internet" versions of articles and compilations saved in Google drive. Much formatting is lost in the published versions unfortunately.
