FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO BARREL PATH
PELVIS AND SPINE
One of the biggest contributors to barrel path is posture. HOW and player is standing in the box and moves into the launch phase of the swing will directly affect barrel path. When speaking of posture we are focused on how the legs, pelvis, spine, and cage (chest, shoulders, arms, bat) are in relation to each other.
Posture
Pelvic Positioning (hinge, abduction & adduction)
Spine Positioning (stable)
CAGE
The hitters cage refers to the hitters relationships between lead and back arm, and bat. How the hitter maintains proper relationship is how he consistently delivers the barrel.
Lead Arm ( Frontal Plane vs Transverse Plane)
Back Arm (Supination vs Prontation)
Bat (Flat vs Uphill vs Downhill)
