April 13, 2013: A few weeks ago, Doug Milton gave me an old Yamaha 01v Digital Mixing Console, worth $2,000, for free. This means that I will be able to expand the number of recording tracks for each song. I'll sync two ADATs and thus have 16 tracks per song.
Yesterday, I spent a couple of hours trying to wire everything together and, using a pair of vertical stacking shelves, fit it all (two mixing boards, two ADATs, and other equipment, boxes, and stuff) into a closet that's just over four feet wide, two feet deep, and 8 feet high.
May 23, 2013: Christianrock.net did a live radio interview (by phone) of moron. A podcast of the interview should be available in June.
May 27, 2013: After a year of recovery, you might say, from the last album, moron has started to write a new album. I had jotted down a few ideas over the last year, but today, more or less the first entire new song was hatched. It's about sympathizing with animal rights activists, like lobster rescuers, but drawing a short line from there to rights for preborn children.
June 1, 2013: moron made a live appearance, playing 7 songs as the opening act.
June 28, 2013: moron made an appearance at the Creation (NorthEast) festival in Mount Union, PA...not to play, but to give away CDs. For about 8 hours, I plodded from campsite to campsite (I would never interrupt a crowd gathered for a band or a talk) and handed out CDs, most of which were All Quiet on the Best Western Front. A few people got Gnashville! as well. I estimate that I gave out at least 600 CDs, maybe closer to 700, which would be about one-third of the number of AQBWFs produced.
I bet Crowder didn't move 700 units that day ... in that location.
Anyway, I am grateful to the Creation staff, who let me walk the grounds and give away CDs. I gave them away for free, which is what moron has always done (although I did have to promise the Creation staff that I would give the CDs away for free, otherwise I would have had to pay a fee to be a vendor.)
December 7, 2013: I took two seminary classes (online, New Geneva Theological Seminary) and that totally accounted for any free time that could have gone to music writing. I don't work or study on Sundays, however, so that's going to have to be the day when moron moves closer to the front of the line.
