June 21, 2012: The new moron CD arrived by FedEx today: 2000 CDs (well, 2039, if the DiscMakers invoice is correct.)
June 30, 2012: I have been signing and numbering the CDs. I am up to #1310.
July 1, 2012: I am planning to be at Cornerstone on Wednesday July 4 and Thursday July 5 to give away CDs. I hope to see you there!
March 16, 2012: Happy St. Patrick's Eve to ya!
From a recording viewpoint, the new moron CD is essentially complete. A few songs might take a track (an extra instrumental part) or two, but they could "go" in their current form. I'm basically waiting until I get the opportunity to go out to Colorado to see Doug to put the album together. Might not be able to go until this summer.
So, I continue to write songs, but I'm being extra picky. It's gonna take a really good song to displace a song that is on the current line-up. Over the past half year or more, it's been a case of: write 5 songs, record 1. In some sense, that's an encouraging change from moron's past ratio of write 1, record 1.
What will the title of the new CD be? Originally, it was going to be "band of destroying anglos." Then I came up with "all quiet on the best western front", and that was the front runner for a long time. I also like, "fruity", which is the name of what will probably be the 4th or 5th song on the new CD. However, the superior title is "all quiet on the best western front". The problem is that I don't like the title song--the song that goes by that name. I've written it, but not recorded it. Is it possible for a CD title not to have a corresponding, similarly titled song? I guess so--such is the case for a couple of early moron albums, although the album titles did essentially make their way onto the CD as lyrics of songs (rather than as song titles.)
Anyway.
