Boxing Day 2020 10k XC Parlauf : 26th December 2020

A great mornings training session with a competitive element. Quite exciting at times, with positions changing throughout to run. An arbitrary goal of beating 35mins.

Two pairs managed this and two more pairs were a stride away, with a couple more 20 seconds away and another 40 seconds. It was my ambition to all pairs under or within a minute, but late necessary changes meant that I could not get all the teams equally balanced to achieve this.

Some great runs, with 3 teams trying to get an early lead, two breaking away Laura & Phil and Aaron & Simon, with most of the others forming a group with places swapping continually. and it was Aaron & Simon who pushed on to get a small gap.

From behind the chasing pack, Julia & Chris T had been making ingrounds to catch up, before Julia had to retire, but super sub Rob Marsden (on his fave surface (not), helped carry on the progress to the pack.

Aaron & Simon put in a successful bid for the finish to cross the line 15 seconds ahead of Laura & Phil, with Rob & Chris splitting the pack, and Chris probably the strongest runner of the day, finishing well to beat the pack to third place in the end, and just 30 seconds from the lead, with Matt a stride behind, and Connor outsprinting Jon, with Andrew not far behind. The pairs behind were running well, but unfortunately with the changes, I didn't have time get the balance like for like with the pairs ahead.

We hope to repeat this sometime in the future.
