At today's bargaining table, the District changed the rules and reneged on agreements made during the last round of negotiations. The District now insists on tying teacher's 1.9 SAM recompense to proposals which REA (and the District) had agreed would be bargained separately. This brought negotiations to a screeching halt and forced REA to revert to the negotiated contract language regarding T/R/I Time.
In short, the August 21-22 RTI/PLC Institute will not count toward the TIME portion of our T/R/I contract. Therefore, TEACHERS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ATTEND the August 21-22 RTI/PLC Institute . Because the August 21-22 in-service was not agreed upon during bargaining or any other decision making process, the October and March in-service days will be reinstated. The August RTI/PLC Institute days are not part of our T/R/I Time and anyone attending will NOT BE PAID for them.
If the District deems any of the sessions "mandatory," the District will have to reschedule those sessions during the October and March in-service days.
Stay tuned for more information.
