Contract Ratified

The REA/RSD certified staff contract was ratified on August 24, 2011. The negotiated agreement is for one year only, requiring the bargaining team to return to the table in March 2012. Highlights of the new agreement include:

· Teachers will receive their 1.9% State mandated salary reduction through a supplemental contract;

· Four (4), half-day releases will be provided for District professional development;

· Secondary will receive one (1) of the early-release half-days as personal planning (secondary certified staff will have only three (3) early-releases for professional development: one (1) will be self-directed planning time);

· Secondary certified staff will participate in one parent/teacher conference period, scheduled for February 23, from 3:30-5:30;

o The following Friday (February 24) will be a two-hour early release for teachers;

· Elementary parent/teacher conference scheduling will return to five (5) half-day teaching/conferencing (seven (7), half-days for Kindergarten) in November and March;

· Elementary grade level stipends will be divided into 3% for leadership and management plus 1% for district committee liaison;

· Elementary stipend grid broken into two sections reflecting the 3% and 1%, respectively;

· Language will be changed for Department Heads and Grade Level Chairs to be more K-12 comprehensive;

· Secondary math intervention class sizes (ALEK) will be 24;

· Secondary reading intervention class sizes (Read 180) will be 21, for both general ed. and special ed. teachers;

· ARTICLE X will be renamed “Teachers on Leave From Classroom Assignments” (TOLFCA);

· Stipends for specialists who serve as District leaders will continue at 8% for this school regardless of number of District representatives.

o However, in 2012-2013 the stipend will be 8% for one (1) District level leader: if two persons split duties, they will also split the 8%;

· Two study committees will be formed to examine the current parent/teacher conferencing plan and current needs in Special Education;

· The White Bluffs letter of agreement (LOA) regarding Special Education case manager will expire;

· The $100,000 of insurance pooling by the District will expire; and

· Professional Learning Communities (PLC) will be better defined.
