Wolves

There are no wild wolves in Scotland now but the official record say that the last Scottish wolf was killed at Killiecrankie in 1680 by Sir Ewen Cameron. There are various claims for the location of the last wolf and Rannoch is one.

There are claims that wolves survived up until the 18th century and one story claims until 1888.

Paul Lister who own the Alladale Estate north of Inverness would like to reintroduce the to his estate but that would mean excluding ramblers who have the right of access to wild land under the 2003 Access Law.

There are wolves at the Kincraig Highland Wildlife Park.
