Denise is a New Jersey native who grew up in Pennsylvania. After attending Point Park College, she met her husband, actor/director Donovan Johnson. They moved to New York City in 1985 and lived there until 1989, sharing an apartment with another Point Park graduate, Dan Sukits. Denise and her husband moved to Orlando and worked for the entertainment department of Universal Studios Florida. Their son, Donovan IV, was born in 1992. That same year, they moved to Columbus, Ohio so that Donovan Sr. could do his graduate work in directing at The Ohio State University. About this time, Denise began writing seriously (or as seriously as she could manage). Upon Donovan Sr.’s graduation, they moved to New Jersey and founded The Oberon Theatre Ensemble in NYC. Denise served with Oberon seven seasons as production coordinator and also acted, directed, designed and wrote plays. Her first play, Attempting Fate was performed at Expanded Arts and later produced by Oberon. In 2005, Denise and her family moved back to Ohio. In 2009, Denise started to market her urban fantasy novel, Cara Mia, Book One of the Immortyl Revolution and was published by L&L Dreamspell in 2010. Her second novel in the series will be released this fall. Denise enjoys reading historical fiction, thrillers, sci-fi, fantasy and most recently manga and graphic novels. She currently lives in Pataskala, Ohio (hometown of porn star John Holmes) with her husband, punk-rocker son and flock of seven parrots.
