Hmmm, let’s see, what have I been up to for the past 38 years?
Well, first and foremost, I married my beautiful wife Arlene to her dismay (just kidding). She still professes her undying love to yours truly--or so she says. We will celebrate our silver wedding anniversary in November. I guess I’ll have to buy her something made of wood.
Oh, most recently I retired from ABC (American Broadcasting Company) where I worked as a Local One stagehand for 28 years. My shows included All My Children, One Life to Live, Good Morning America, 20/20, The City, Loving and The View.
It was a great job that always allowed me time off to pursue my acting career. Now let me say this about retirement--it’s not all that it’s cracked up to be--it’s much much more and I love it!
O.K., lets go back in time. After college, I performed locally. In 1979 I did the national tour of Grease, returned to Pittsburgh when I got a call to come to New York and join the Broadway company of Grease. After the show closed, I toured the world throughout the ‘80s with the I Love New York Industrial World Tour, promoting broadway theater and tourism in New York City.
I sang with an acapella group called “The Dream” for a few years, did a pilot with the group called “It’s Rock and Roll”, it aired once--oh well, that’s show biz!
Oh, I can’t leave out Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, where I performed in over 50 musical productions, good times.
Well, I’m sure I left out a few thousand things, but that’s it in a nutshell. I am still performing and I even directed a few shows. Who’d thunk it?
Anyway, I’m so looking forward to seeing my old classmates, especially Roy Backus (he owes me money).
I have so many wonderful memories of my days at Point Park and the Pittsburgh Playhouse, but you know it will truly be nice to walk in the Playhouse building and not see a note on the bulletin board reading
“PAUL GREENO SEE MR. NASSIF IMMEDIATELY”.
Well that about does it for me. Before I close I would like to thank all responsible for putting this reunion together. Their hard work and tireless efforts are greatly appreciated. Long live the Playhouse!!
