OK…well, this shouldn’t be too hard…the 70’s…life in NYC, lots of drinks & fun. Did what I always do – slide from one thing to another. Completely influenced by circumstances – until circumstances leave no choice! Made my way west-ish with a funny dreamer whose enormous, welcoming family I fell in love with. We lived in an old farmhouse in western New York. I split wood. I grew vegetables. I baked. Two children were born to us. There went the 80’s. Long winters, summer trips to NY and Maine, deepening friendships, disease overcome – the very preciousness of life brought into hard focus. Started working at the local NPR affiliate in the late 90’s. Now I’m single again, and oh-so-happy! My kids are smart & funny & so much more together than I was at their age! Son Gordon is 22 and finishing up his studies in writing at a local college, and daughter Kate is 25 and loving her life in NYC, just like her Ol’ Maw did way back in the day!
