Sherri left the dark backstage to become a wilderness instructor for four years with her husband Karl. She went on to earn her Master’s in Journalism at Syracuse, and then moved to Montana, where she managed the Bozeman Climbing Gym so her husband could earn his Master’s in Earth Sciences. She then moved to Washington, DC, where her husband earned his Ph.D. in Geography and she worked for the prestigious journal of Science; she was the first person in its 150-year history to go from being a proofreader to a writer (then having her own monthly column); she has more than 300 publications, under her name, including in the Washington Post, as well has ghostwritten for science policy, including in USA Today. For the past decade, she has been teaching English at University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan, where her husband is a Geography professor; they are the proud parents of 11-year-old Kade, whose love of theatre has made them both active volunteers at Sheboygan’s Theater for Young Audiences, including acting with him in Charlotte’s Web as Mr. and Mrs. Arable. Also, she and her son Kade are now co-writing the final chapters for their young adult science fiction novel. She has been dealing with a very rare cancer syndrome and had to have more surgery; her recovery time precludes her from attending the reunion. She hopes everyone has a great time and gets out there to live life to its fullest. She can be contacted at sbyrand@gmail.com.
