Welcome to my Pavement / Malkmus & Jicks guitar tab site. I've done my best to figure out how to play these songs in the proper manner, using live videos whenever possible as confirmation. I hope you enjoy what you find here!

Note: Because many Pavement songs involve improvisation and subtle variations throughout, many of these guitar tabs are minimalist and contain only Stephen Malkmus' parts in what I believe is the proper tuning. Consider the tab a starting point for you to add your own flourishes and feelings. For most songs, Spiral usually plays the appropriate power chords in standard tuning and contributes some backing lead parts.

Some tabs may be incomplete. They may be updated, and new tabs added, when time permits.

November 13, 2024:

A tab for another Hard Quartet song is up on the site: check out Heel Highway.

November 11, 2024:

Yet another Hard Quartet song added: Hey. The outro/ending is missing for now but will be added later at some point.

November 7, 2024:

Added a tab for another Hard Quartet song: Chrome Mess. I got the unusual tuning from checking some live footage - it seems to match up with how Malkmus is playing it.

November 4, 2024:

Tabs for a couple new Hard Quartet songs have been added: Earth Hater (tab courtesy of Matt Watton), and Rio's Song.

February 3, 2024:

Up to now there's only been a single, lone Silver Jews tab buried on this site in the non-album tracks section: Federal Dust. I took a little detour and completed a couple others, and am adding them to a new section at the very bottom of this page for Silver Jews tabs. The new tabs are from Starlite Walker, which will be celebrating its 30th anniversary later this year. Check out Introduction II, Advice to the Graduate, and Tide to the Oceans.

Forgot to mention: the tabs for Fin and The Hexx have been updated with the guitar solos that were previously missing from those tabs.

12 years too late, but better late than never! New tabs have been added for most of The Jicks' 2011 album Mirror Traffic. By now, anyone interested in playing these songs has probably figured them out already, so there likely aren't any surprises. But it's always bugged me that tabs for the last few Jicks albums are missing, so I'm putting what I've finished up for now. Check out Tigers, No One Is (As I Are Be) (with bonus live solo tab), Brain Gallop, Jumblegloss, Asking Price, Stick Figures in Love, Spazz, Long Hard Book, Tune Grief, and Gorgeous Georgie.
I was hoping to have finished all of Mirror Traffic by now, but unfortunately it's been a difficult year and not getting any easier, so this will be the last update for a few months here.
