Solihull A 2 – 2 Ravens
Goals Brian 2
M.o.M Brian
A horribly day weather wise but our performance in the 1st half was a lot more like us after the slightly disappointing efforts the week before. Josh White missed out this time and I think in hindsight id have much rather had him with us than sat at home, especially with the conditions the way they were.
Our first half team performed excellently. We dominated the midfield. Brian was running the show and Ish and Liam carried on where they left off last week with solid displays. Several times Fred was inches away from being in on goal with the ball slipping away from him on the wet surface. Ish and Brian had long shots saved as their keeper looked very well organised.
We could not make the breakthrough and the lads that started on the bench were starting to freeze standing around in the wet and cold.
We managed to get them all on for a good run out but I think the cold had set in with a couple of them as the 2nd half performance was no match for the 1st.
We got a deserved lead when Brian beat his man to score off the post. We looked very comfortable from here and it looked as though we would cruise to a win as Solihull were not creating. Then a tame looking shot from out wide squirmed underneath Tom in the wet conditions and the game changed from here. Panic had set in and we were on the back foot, lucky to not fall behind as Alfie saved with his legs and the defenders were brave in goalmouth scramble.
Phil hit a post at the other end before disaster struck. Brad was shoved off the ball and the forward rolled Elliot before putting the ball in the corner. A very soft goal form our point of view but reminiscent of the last few weeks where these type of goals have been creeping in.
I threw Bri straight back on and with a couple of minutes left he scored at the back post from Joshy’s long throw.
2-2 and based on the balance of the game you would have to say 2 points dropped. We need to find a way to win these games. The performance was good but if we are letting in 2 goals like that, with individual mistakes we will struggle. Our subs also need to be ready to go on and perform at all times as we really lost some initiative although I think conditions contributed to this.
