Crusaders 0 v 3 Ravens
Scorers:-Frank, Brian, Jake
MoM:- Joshy D
Our final midweek game and the 1st of 3 really tough games saw our lads rise to the challenge. Crusaders are fighting for promotion and have an impressive tally of 70+ goals this season. The wind and slope saw me name two different starting teams depending on which way we were kicking. We won the toss and elected to kick up first which meant Jake and Josh W would be vital. I wanted as many big strong lads on for the battle and then the introduction of the likes of Rankin and Brian to get at them when the conditions were with us 2nd half.
To be fair we dominated from the 1st whistle. Ish was outstanding and disciplined and every wave of attacks that broke down, Ish just own the ball back and put Crusaders back onto the back foot. We had several near misses with Josh Ds throws causing trouble. Liam and Brian might have scored at the back post if they had been a little more positive. Jake was causing problems up the right and defending soundly when we lost the ball. At the back, well once again Josh D was commanding and Josh W and Elliot just mopped up the leftovers.
The 2nd half was much the same. We were even more dominant. Frank made the break through from a Josh throw. Brian smashed in a pen and Jake put in a late 3rd. There keeper made good saves from Brian and Frank.
A really good win. I am delighted with yet another strong defensive display. Josh D and Ish were the pick of the players for me and their fans and the ref singled out Brian for praise.
More of the same against Santiago A this Sunday. This will be our toughest league game of the season. They are battling it out with Crusaders for promotion so they will be well up for it.
