Ravens 3 – 2 Knowle Jnrs

Our first league game in division C and a tough start against the team that finished 3^rd last season and narrowly missed out on promotion to B.

We fell behind quite quickly when a shot squirmed away from the diving Josh. We offered a little going forward but the final pass was generally not good enough. There did not seem to be much between the teams but I felt we had enough to win the game.

Brad went on and made an immediate impact. Great wing play before delivering an inch perfect cross for Brian to head in. 1-1. From this point on I felt we were the better team. Our energy levels were excellent and we were winning most of the key tackles.

Elliot marshalled the tricky forward brilliantly. Ish was showing a new side to his game with dominant tackling and a key headed clearance from a corner.

We swapped Freddy for Phil and the game continued to turn our way. The big defender was enjoying the physical battle with Fred but he could not cope with the speed and trickery of Brad, Bri and Phil.

Our passing was getting better and we were opening them up more and more. Phil then slipped a pass up the line to Bri who controlled and neatly and played a pass inside to Ish. Ish drove the perfect shot low and hard into the bottom corner. 2-1.

2 quickly became 3. Bri was involved again. This time his pass found Phil who’s shot deflected in for a 3-1 lead. A late goal from Knowle saw a nervy finish but we held on to win a game that I think we just about deserved.

Steve
