We are working on getting a couple of new priority icons for our queues. We are trying to get a dedicated “Correction” icon, as well as a “Backup Pending” icon.
The “Correction” icon/priority will be used to differentiate corrections, from true STAT orders. I want to try to get to where if you see a STAT icon it is something that needs to be done ASAP.
The “Backup Pending” icon/priority will be used for when we have notes stating to send something to backup once we receive an order. I find that I am clicking on some documents that have been flagged as backup several times just to find out it is the same email someone sent in waiting for an order. We also will be able to use this to mark orders that we are waiting to see if something is needed to backup or not ie. when we receive an E-Rx for an antibiotic/acute medication that we have reached out to the facility for.
Just a reminder to everyone that the priority icons and meanings are as follows:
Green $ is something that needs to be processed to send to backup. This is the highest priority.
Red ! is something that is, currently, something that either needs to be corrected or needs to be processed immediately, following backup orders.
Blue ? is something that we have an issue that we need assistance from the facility/nurse/MD to resolve. These need to be worked daily to make sure we are following up.
Red “square” is a pending update order. This usually shouldn’t be in new orders, but we do occasionally see them sent back to us because they may have been flagged as a pending update and there may be a change that needs to be addressed. If we see these try to review them to see if they can be fixed.
Blue and White “Pen?...” is a profile only order. We normally don’t see these unless we receive quite a few orders that are just needing to be profiled. These take a very low priority compared to most other priority icons.
Green “flag” in new orders is a 421 order/document that has been worked for their designated representative to process. Please make sure that the designated technician is the only one processing these. If they are found in reorders, please notify that designated technician so they are aware, or move it into new orders with the same priority.
Red “star” is a 1st run order. This is something that we need to make sure, if at all possible, we are processing it in the AM (ie. #A0524) batch. If it is after 12pm we need to reach out to our shipping department to see if we can still get that order on 1st run.
Yellow “flag” is something that is “tomorrow’s work” and is normally the lowest priority.
Everything that shows up above the blue ?s, whether it is in new orders or reorders, have to be processed that day. If you aren’t seeing the priority icons in order, please click the header on the priority column to sort them so we are seeing the highest at the top.
