Make Up Work
Absent/Late Work Policy:
Each department works together to develop a “late work policy” for their content area. However, OHHS’ school-wide expectation is that, for each day of class missed, students receive one extra day allowance for late work. This is the case regardless of whether or not the absence is excused or unexcused. Grades cannot be used as a punitive measure for absence. It is the responsibility of teachers to post assignments online for student access, and it is the responsibility of each student to communicate with teachers in order to receive additional clarification when needed.
Missing work will be marked in the gradebook at 50% and missing until the work has been submitted for grading.
We acknowledge that classroom policies may be modified for students who receive support through a 504 Plan or Individualized Education Plan.
For Concert Absences:
Submit recordings of yourself singing all the songs you missed.
Sometimes students have trouble getting to class for any number of reasons. While we do not pass judgment on those students, we must be aware that their knowledge of the music needs to be assessed before performance. To be consistent, any student who has received 12 absences or more before a concert is required to prove reasonable knowledge of the music.
The criteria will vary between each song.
For All Daily Grades:
If you would like extra points, you may attend a concert and fill out this assignment. Before attending the concert, please check with Mr. McCoy to confirm that the concert is appropriate for extra credit. Please see the School District Calendar for a list of available OHSD concerts.
This may also be used to earn back 10 points on "Ensemble Grades". See document for more info.
