The Geocentric Model of the Solar System, most often associated with Ptolemy, asserts that the Earth is the center of the Solar System.Aristotle championed this idea, as did most other astronomers up until the time of Copernicus. The Geocentric Model had various problems associated with it, including planetary retrograde motion. To fix this anomalistic motion, Ptolemy, and others before him, used a system of "circles on circles" motion, referred to as Deferents and Epicycles. Here is a movie of planetary motion, if the Geocentric Model were true.
