February Sub-Interns
February Sub-Interns
My name is Ricky Berman, and I am a Sub-Intern from Columbia VP&S. Prior to medical school, I worked at a healthcare consulting firm in Boston for 4 years, specializing in applied biostatistics and big data analysis. I applied to Urology residency, and am hoping to match in NYC. My research interests include studying treatment pathways for acute kidney stone patients (early intervention vs. trial of passage for mid-size stones). In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching movies, playing soccer, and backcountry skiing. I've had 7 ski days this year so far, and counting!
My name is Courtney and I am a sub-intern from Weill Cornell Medicine. My academic interests include health disparities research, musculoskeletal health and medical education. Outside of medicine, I love Broadway, playing and watching tennis, and baking.
My name is Sophie Kush and I am a Sub-Intern from Weill Cornell Medicine. My primary career interest is in orthopaedic surgery, with academic interests in spine surgery, surgical outcomes research, and the use of technology and data to improve patient care. Outside of medicine, I enjoy working out, watching ice hockey, and reading. I’m excited to learn from the residents and faculty and to be part of the team during my time on the service.
My name is Barr, and I'm a Sub-Intern from Weill Cornell. I'm hoping to practice public/community psychiatry with a focus on street psych, but both my partner and my brother are pursuing emergency medicine, so I'm looking forward to getting more exposure to their world through this month in the ED. Outside of medicine, I love doing anything outdoors - hiking and skiing are particular favorites.
My name is Ashwin Mahesh, a Sub-I from Cornell. I hope to learn more about emergency medicine and stabilizing patients in critical conditions across this month, which will be really helpful for my future career as an anesthesiologist. My personal interests include improving community-based medical care for patients experiencing homelessness and continuing to learn ways to innovate at the intersection of housing and healthcare.
My name is Alysala and I am a sub-intern visiting from Columbia! I'm actually applying into orthopedics, but I have a love for emergency medicine from medical school and am very excited to continue learning EM skills and knowledge on this rotation! During medical school I did research using POCUS to evaluate volume status in children, and am interested in improving access to care both locally and globally in low-resource settings. I love exploring new restaurants in NYC, roadtripping, and watching movies with family / friends! I'm excited to work and learn from you all!
My name is Jez Marston and I am a Sub-Intern from Weill Cornell. I was born in Miami, FL then grew up in Kingston, Jamaica. I went to Yale University for undergrad where I majored in Biochemistry. I am an MD-PhD student and plan to focus in academic medicine, but I am interested in exploring more of Emergency Medicine and hone these skills at my home institution. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy running (NYC and Miami marathons so far), reading, history and learning new languages. I am looking forward to this rotation, and hope to enhance my scope of experience in EM.
My name is Harrison White and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Weill Cornell. I applied into dermatology and am interested in procedural dermatology, medical education, and administration. I am a former professional baseball player, I enjoy lifting weights, and I love fantasy football. I also enjoy exploring new restaurants throughout the city and am a bit of a Broadway nerd. I’m excited to hone my skills over the course of my sub-internship!
My name is Andrew Yang and I am a Sub-Intern from Cornell. I am interested in the economics of ED visits and critical care, especially as it relates to neurosurgery, the field I am applying to for residency. Outside of medical school I enjoy running, hiking, and chess. I am excited for this sub-internship!
