May Sub-Interns
My name is Alan Garcia-Epelboim, and I’m a Sub-Intern visiting from the Vagelos Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Professionally, I’m passionate about community and immigrant health, and I’m especially interested in how healthcare systems can better support underserved populations. Outside of medicine, I love rock climbing, drawing, playing guitar/piano, trying new things in the kitchen, and outdoor adventures. I’m excited to learn from and contribute to the Emergency Medicine department and look forward to connecting with residents and faculty during my time here!
My name is Aimen Javed and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar. I am interested in Emergency Medicine for my residency, followed by a fellowship in critical care. In my free time, I love spending some quiet time walking around the city and finding random places to explore. I love traveling, especially in mountain ranges. My recent favorite visit was the Great Wall of China. And lastly, I love to read regional fiction, my absolute favorite book being The Crow Eater. I am extremely enthusiastic about EM, and I never shy away from working and learning.
My name is Allan (I'm from Mexico City and everyone that knows me says my name in Spanish) and I am a Sub-Intern from Weill Cornell. I was a litigation attorney for many years. I decided to attend medical school to expand healthcare access, particularly in the Latino community. To that end, I was a Healthcare Leadership and Management Scholar one summer at Weill Cornell New York Presbyterian Emergency Department to understand healthcare administration, legal obligations, and emerging policy issues. On a personal level, I enjoy spending time with my family and dog. I also run a marathon typically once a year - NYC marathon is next in November.
