August Sub-Interns
My name is Jay Branch, and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Mercer University School of Medicine. My professional and academic interests include treating underserved populations around the world, teaching in an academic center, and pursuing various fellowships. My personal interests outside of medicine include playing and composing music, drawing and painting, learning and practicing new languages, and traveling and experiencing different cultures around the world.
My name is Natalie and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from New York Medical College. My professional interests are global health, wilderness medicine and emergency medical services. In my free time I enjoy cooking, biking, rock climbing, backpacking, learning new languages and exploring the city.
My name is Robert and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. I grew up in New York City and I'm applying into Emergency Medicine. My professional interests include critical care, ultrasound, and AI/informatics in emergency medicine. Outside of medicine, I enjoy competing in triathlons, cooking, and exploring NYC's restaurant scene. I'm excited to work with the department, learn as much as I can, and get to know everyone!
My name is Noah Han (Noah) and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). I am pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine and have particular interests in pain management, addiction medicine, and sports medicine. I am excited for the opportunity to learn from both faculty and residents at Weill Cornell and to continue developing the clinical skills and decision-making that are essential to emergency medicine.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy staying active by going to the gym, taking my two dogs, Joji and Penny, for walks in Central Park, and going to the theater with my wife Angela whenever we have the chance. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, working hard, and being a positive member of the team throughout my rotation.
My name is Jared Hill and I am a visiting Sub-i from UT Southwestern. Some of the things I love the most about emergency medicine are the fast-paced and team-oriented environment and the opportunity to work closely with others while caring for a wide variety of patients. I also love the creativity that is often required to solve problems in the ED. My professional interests include innovation within emergency medicine, particularly the use of artificial intelligence to improve patient care and clinical decision making. Outside of medicine, I enjoy entrepreneurship, playing golf, and spending time with my wife, family, and friends. I am excited to explore New York City and learn more about the diverse patient population this program serves.
My name is Rimsha and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. My academic interests include trauma, critical care, and caring for underserved populations through safety-net medicine. Outside of medicine, I enjoy trying new coffee shops and restaurants as well as spending lots of time with family and friends. I value being a reliable teammate and I am excited to learn from everyone I meet during this rotation!
My name is Emily and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. I grew up in New Jersey and attended UConn for undergrad. I am interested in pursuing a fellowship in sports medicine after residency. As a former competitive figure skater, I enjoy coaching in my free time and staying active. I’m excited to work with and learn from everyone during my rotation!
My name is Akshay Krishnan, and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. Within Emergency Medicine, I am interested in social Emergency Medicine and how digital health tools can increase access to care for medically underserved patients. At Jefferson, I started an organization to teach patients how to use their patient portal at the bedside during their hospital admission, with a focus on patients from underserved zip codes. I went to undergrad at Penn State University, where I studied global health and health equity. Outside of medicine, I enjoy learning about the history of public transit and baking recipes from Claire Saffitz’s “Dessert Person.” I am looking forward to meeting everyone at NYP and exploring the city this summer!
My name is Lily Kauffman, and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Eastern Virginia Medical School at Old Dominion University. My professional interests within emergency medicine include ultrasound and EMS, and I enjoy competitive horseback riding, going on runs, and reading with my cat, Figaro, in my free time. I am looking forward to working with everyone throughout my Sub-Internship!
My name is Christina, and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Western Michigan University School of Medicine. I am applying to Emergency Medicine and am interested in ultrasound, narrative medicine, medical education, and health equity. Before pursuing medicine, I earned an MFA in Creative Writing, with a focus in poetry, from Columbia University, taught creative writing across New York City, and worked with writers, artists, and nonprofit organizations. I've lived in New York for most of my life, so it's exciting to be back training here. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, exploring bookstores, working in community gardens, traveling, and photography. I'm looking forward to learning from and working with everyone here.
My name is Jacob Leff, and I am a Sub-intern visiting from the Drexel University College of Medicine. I am interested in all aspects of emergency medicine, but ultrasound and EMS are of particular interest to me. I enjoy traveling, playing soccer and volleyball, and trying new restaurants. I am an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Formula 1 Racing. I am very excited to experience how emergency care is delivered at New York Presbyterian Cornell/Columbia.
My name is Moriah Martindale and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. My academic interests include sports medicine, ultrasound, and EMS. I’ve had the privilege of completing a rotation through the 2024 NFL diversity in sports medicine pipeline program with the Buffalo Bills as well as the opportunity to serve as a community hands-only CPR instructor in Western New York, both of which are experiences that solidified my passion for emergency medicine, musculoskeletal care, and the complexity of EMS care in the sports setting. In my free time, I enjoy photography, cooking, and watching sports (Go Bills! Go Knicks! Go Liberty!).
